Privacy Policy
Last updated June 14, 2026
IsItFlooding (“we”, “us”) is a free service that shows live river levels and flood status. We try to collect as little personal information as possible. This page explains what we collect and why.
Approximate location
To show rivers near you, our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) estimates an approximate location from your IP address at the time of your request. We use it only to center the map and list nearby gauges, and we do not store it. You can instead type a ZIP code, or click “Use my location” — in which case your browser asks your permission and your device’s coordinates are used only to load nearby gauges for that request.
Email for flood alerts
If you sign up for flood alerts, we store the email address you provide (and the gauge it relates to) so we can notify you. We do not sell, rent, or share your email, and we will only use it to send alerts you asked for. You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing munkres.clinton@gmail.com.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate usage (such as which pages are viewed). It is privacy-first: it does not use cookies, does not fingerprint you, and does not track you across other websites. It does not collect personal information.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your light/dark theme preference is saved in your browser’s local storage and never leaves your device.
Where data is stored
Email signups are stored using Cloudflare’s infrastructure. River and flood data come from public U.S. government sources (USGS and the NOAA National Weather Service) and contain no personal information.
Children
This service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
You can request access to, or deletion of, the email address we hold for you at munkres.clinton@gmail.com. We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
